Our country offices

The Norwegian Association of Disabled (NAD) has three country offices in Africa; Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.

NAD’s vision:

All persons with disabilities can live fulfilling, independent lives and enjoy their human rights. We support persons with disabilities and their organisations in promoting their rights and in building strong disability movements and supporting disability inclusion in the wider society. 

Our values:

The international work in NAD is based on the values of trust, consultation, innovation, and responsibility. This means that we invest in relationships, and meet people where they are.

NAD is a member of the Atlas Alliance. In addition to our partner OPDs, we collaborate with other Norwegian OPDs and their national OPD partners through country groups in the respective countries.

Economic empowerment

NAD’s Economic Empowerment program uses the iSAVE model, an inclusive microfinance approach developed with local partners.

Inclusive climate action and disaster risk reduction 

NAD’s partner organizations work to strengthen the resilience and coping capacity of persons with disabilities in the face of climate change and disasters.

Human rights advocacy 

NAD’s international work on human rights advocacy is built on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). 

Inclusive Education

NAD has developed the Inclusive Learning Approach (ILA), which enables OPDs and governments to build inclusive education in local schools, so that children with disabilities can live with their families and be part of the local school community.

Humanitarian settings

Since the last war in Gaza began in 2023, and in the increasingly precarious situation in the West Bank, the needs for support for people with disabilities are greater than ever. NAD therefore resumed cooperation with Palestinian partners from 2026.
